Intermediate-Brightness Spectrophotometric Standards. Standards Near +40° Declination
The second stage in our program to compile a list of regionalintermediate-brightness spectrophotometric standards has been completed.We have obtained spectral energy distributions for 24 stars withmagnitudes near +40° declination. The range λλ31007600 Å was studied with a spectral resolution of 50 Å. Therelative rms error of our results in the visible is 1 2%, increasing to3 5% toward the edges of the studied wavelength interval. All the starsare referenced to a single standard, the circumpolar star HD 221525. Theenergy distributions were used to compute color indices in the UBV,WBVR, and UPXY ZV S systems, as well as in the system of the TYCHOcatalog. The computed and observed values for stars in common with theTYCHO catalog are compared.
| Radial velocities. Measurements of 2800 B2-F5 stars for HIPPARCOS
Radial velocities have been determined for a sample of 2930 B2-F5 stars,95% observed by the Hipparcos satellite in the north hemisphere and 80%without reliable radial velocity up to now. Observations were obtainedat the Observatoire de Haute Provence with a dispersion of 80Ä,mm(-1) with the aim of studying stellar and galactic dynamics.Radial velocities have been measured by correlation with templates ofthe same spectral class. The mean obtained precision is 3.0 km s(-1)with three observations. A new MK spectral classification is estimatedfor all stars. | Radial velocity measurements. II - Ground-based observations of the program stars for the HIPPARCOS satellite
New radial velocities for 446 stars of magnitude 9.0 or brighter in 1616-sq-deg fields of the Northern Hemisphere are determined by automaticPDS measurement of 80-A/mm-dispersion spectra obtained at theObservatoire de Haute Provence using a 17-cm-diameter objective prism.The fields were selected to provide data for the input catalog of theESA Hipparcos astrometric satellite. The measurement techniques andprecision are discussed, and the results are presented in extensivetables and graphs.
| Spectral types for early-type stars observed by SKYLAB
MK spectral types are presented for 246 early-type stars observed withthe S-019 ultraviolet stellar astronomy experiment on Skylab. K-linetypes are also given where applicable, and various peculiar stars areidentified. The peculiar stars include five silicon stars, a shell star,a helium-rich star, a silicon-strontium star, a chromium-europium star,and two marginal metallic-line stars.
