The RAdial Velocity Experiment (RAVE): Third Data Release
We present the third data release of the RAdial Velocity Experiment(RAVE) which is the first milestone of the RAVE project, releasing thefull pilot survey. The catalog contains 83,072 radial velocitymeasurements for 77,461 stars in the southern celestial hemisphere, aswell as stellar parameters for 39,833 stars. This paper describes thecontent of the new release, the new processing pipeline, as well as anupdated calibration for the metallicity based upon the observation ofadditional standard stars. Spectra will be made available in a futurerelease. The data release can be accessed via the RAVE Web site.

Search for pulsating pre-main-sequence stars in NGC6383
A search for pulsating pre-main-sequence (PMS) stars was performed inthe young open cluster NGC 6383 using CCD time-series photometry inJohnson B and V filters. With an age of only ~1.7Myr all cluster memberslater than spectral type A0 have not reached the ZAMS yet, hence beingideal candidates for investigating PMS pulsation among A- and F-typestars. In total 286 stars have been analysed using classical Fouriertechniques. From about a dozen stars within the boundaries of theclassical instability strip, two stars were found to pulsate: NGC 6383#170, with five frequencies simultaneously, and NGC 6383 #198, with asingle frequency. In addition, NGC 6383 #152 is a suspected PMS variablestar, but our data remain inconclusive. Linear, non-adiabatic modelsassuming PMS evolutionary phase and purely radial pulsation werecalculated for the two new PMS pulsators. NGC 6383 #170 appears topulsate radially in third and fifth overtones, while the other threefrequencies seem to be of non-radial nature. NGC 6383 #198 pulsatesmonoperiodically, most probably in the third radial overtone. Magnitudesand B-V colours were available in the literature for only one third ofall stars and we used them for calibrating the remaining.

Absolute proper motions of open clusters. I. Observational data
Mean proper motions and parallaxes of 205 open clusters were determinedfrom their member stars found in the Hipparcos Catalogue. 360 clusterswere searched for possible members, excluding nearby clusters withdistances D < 200 pc. Members were selected using ground basedinformation (photometry, radial velocity, proper motion, distance fromthe cluster centre) and information provided by Hipparcos (propermotion, parallax). Altogether 630 certain and 100 possible members werefound. A comparison of the Hipparcos parallaxes with photometricdistances of open clusters shows good agreement. The Hipparcos dataconfirm or reject the membership of several Cepheids in the studiedclusters. Tables 1 and 2 are only available in electronic form at theCDS via anonymous ftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstract.html

The Henry Draper Extension Charts: A catalogue of accurate positions, proper motions, magnitudes and spectral types of 86933 stars
The Henry Draper Extension Charts (HDEC), published in the form offinding charts, provide spectral classification for some 87000 starsmostly between 10th and 11th magnitude. This data, being highlyvaluable, as yet was practically unusable for modern computer-basedastronomy. An earlier pilot project (Roeser et al. 1991) demonstrated apossibility to convert this into a star catalogue, using measurements ofcartesian coordinates of stars on the charts and positions of theAstrographic Catalogue (AC) for subsequent identification. We presenthere a final HDEC catalogue comprising accurate positions, propermotions, magnitudes and spectral classes for 86933 stars of the HenryDraper Extension Charts.

A photometric catalogue of stars in the direction of the bright cloud B in Sagittarius
The present catalog includes photometric data on stars in a 5.5 deg x5.5 deg area in the direction of the bright cloud B in Sagittarius, centered at l equals 357.7 deg, b equals plus 5.6 deg. V magnitudes andB-V and U-B colors are reported for nearly all HD and HDE stars in thefield and also for a number of interesting stars (402 stars), 21 propermotion stars, and 45 stars in a 15 arcmin radius circular regioncentered on the galactic cluster Trumpler 26 (Tr 26). Furthermore, photographic B, V, R, and IR magnitudes are listed for 274 stars in thefield of Tr 26. These data will be used for further studies ofinterstellar absorption in the Galaxy's central direction in relation tospecific objects (red variable stars, star clusters, diffuse objects).

The open cluster NGC 6383
The results are reported for UBV photoelectric photometry andphotographic photometry of 88 stars as well as for spectroscopicobservations of 16 stars in the region of the open cluster NGC 6383.Attention is given to interstellar reddening in the field, clustermembership, the cluster color-magnitude diagram, variable stars andinterstellar gas in the region, and red stars in the field. Upper limitsof about 5 million years for the cluster's age and about 4 million yearsfor the contraction time are estimated. A comparison with three otherclusters of similar age indicates that the stars below the lowermain-sequence turnoff in NGC 6383 fall closer to the ZAMS, without avacant region between the ZAMS and the bulk of the stars. It issuggested that the cluster core at least may be relatively deficient inless massive stars, and a relative lack of stars with a large UV excessin the cluster is noted.
